Please join us for the 2011 Tinjum Family Reunion
On Friday, June 24, we will have an open house for neighbors, friends
and the Powers Lake community from 3-6pm at the Larry Tinjum farm with
coffee and cookies.
On Saturday, June 25, there will be a continental breakfast at the
Powers Lake Senior Citizens Center between 7:30-9:00 am.
At 9:00am we will gather at the farm to begin registering and visiting. Diane
Moderson, our Historian, will be there with books, charts and pictures
of the Tinjum families and past reunions.
At 12:30pm we go back to Powers Lake for dinner at the Senior Center.
All meals are being served there because it is a large building with
serving facilities and Handicap accessible bathrooms. A local caterer is
doing all the cooking and serving.
At 2:00pm we will take a tour to see the old schoolhouse where the Tinjums
went to church, the cemetery where the Tinjums are buried and other sites
of interest. Then it's back to activities at the farm.
A supper of Norwegian heritage foods will be served at the Senior Center at
6:30pm with a program to follow. Later that evening there will be fireworks at
the farm.
On Sunday, June 26, again we will have a continental breakfast and then a time
of visiting or going to church for those who wish. Powers Lake has
four churches - Assembly of God, Baptist, Catholic and Lutheran.
At 12:30pm we have dinner at the Center.
At 2:00pm the 56th annual Tinjum Reunion business meeting will be held at the
farm. Group pictures will be taken then and the drawing for the quilt.

DIRECTIONS:
There is daily Amtrak service to Stanley, ND, 20 miles from the farm.
We are about 65 miles northwest of Minot for those coming from the east, or approximately 80
miles northeast of Williston if coming from the west.
•From Minot, take the 4-lane No. 2 and 52 West. After about 13 miles, the highway divides with the
4-lane #2 continuing on to Stanley or 2-lane #52 branching right to go through the Des Lacs valley.
•If you take # 2, go to the junction (traffic light) of #8 at Stanley.
•Turn right at the light and drive through Stanley and then north on #8 about 16 miles to the junction
of #50 West.
•Turn left and go 3 miles on #50 to the first gravel road north (right) and the farm is 1 mile north.
•If you take the 2-lane #52 through the valley, you go through the little towns of Foxholm, Carpio,
and Donnybrook.
•Seven miles northwest of Donnybrook is the junction of #50. Go left, up the hill, and past the village
of Coulee and 20 miles later you come to the junction
of #8.
•Turn right and in 3/4 mile you come to the junction of #50 west; go 3 miles west to the first gravel
road north ( right) and the farm is 1 mile north. We will have a sign and balloons by that gravel road.
•The farm is 7 and 1/2 miles west of Powers Lake on #50 and then one mile north (left) on the gravel road.
We hope you can attend this year's reunion! Please notify any of your family members who did not receive this e-mail. Thanks!

A Note to All: Larry Tinjum is spearheading this reunion. I know that it is a LOT of work to organize
all of this. Knowing how many are attending is very important and it is necessary for planning, so
will you do me a favor? Would you please respond to this email, call me, or write me by April 29
(Contact info is at the bottom) and tell me:
Yes! We are attending! and then list the names of the people who are coming
or
Sorry! We can't make it! And list your names please!
or
We are not sure if we will be there yet. Please list your names!
Thank you! I will compile this information and send it to Larry, as he needs to contact the caterer by
May 1. If you know of any relatives who have an email and they did not receive this message (Ask
around please!), I would appreciate it if you would send me their names and email address so I can
add them to my master list. THANK YOU!
Happy spring to everyone! This is one reunion you won't want to miss! I hope you can be there!
